What does Beta launch mean?

Ballz.com launched in April 2008 and we are currently in BETA. This means that we are in our first release of the website to the general public and as such expect a few minor bugs to occur. We thank you for your patience as we develop the features and functionality of the site further. We welcome any questions or suggestions you may have on usability, bugs and other functionality you would like to see. Send us your comments at feedback@ballz.com.

What products can I get at the Ballz.com Shop?

We currently list over 200 sports and it's always been our core vision to provide specific products for EACH of these sports. Please bear with us as it will take some time to build up the shop contents as some sports are harder to source products for. There are many web sites that sell products for the well known sports but we want to be known as the place to buy stuff for EVERY sport!

Please note that you don't have to be a member of Ballz.com to buy from the shop.

We ONLY partner with well known suppliers who sell quality sports products so you can be assured that you are dealing with companies that value you as customers. We use affiliate-based product feeds so that if, say, you buy a hockey stick from us it will take you through to 'Millet Sports' where you use their secure shopping cart to enter your details. Millets automatically track the fact that you have purchased the item via Ballz.com and we get paid a small commission for this. Should you have any queries or want to make any Returns then you just deal directly with the supplier.

Can I access Ballz.com from outside the UK?

We welcome users from all around the world but please note that the sports products, text messaging and 'Local to You' functionality is only currently set up for the UK.

It's our intention to provide localised country versions of Ballz.com as soon as possible and we are engaging with regional sports goods and services providers so that we can set this up for you. All the other functionality - My Sports, Leagz, Events, Journos, Blogs, Talk, Photos and Broadcasts will work outside the UK and we hope that you will start to use it.

If you are from outside the UK and are interested in helping us with an international roll-out then please email international@ballz.com

Can I use OpenID?

We are currently setting up Ballz.com to be OpenID capable and will let you know when this is ready. Our aim is to comply with new Web standards, especially those that enhance the user experience. We decided to support the OpenID initiative as it's a free and easy way to use a single digital identity across the internet. It eliminates the need for multiple usernames across different websites thereby simplifying the online experience.

You may already have an OpenID but check out this link if you want to know more http://openid.net/get/

How does Ballz.com pay for itself?

Ballz.com is free to all users. Our founders have funded the initial development of the site but we aim to pay for the ongoing hosting costs and additional features from the commissions we earn when people buy products through our sporting goods store and from the advertising banners we show.

We have ambitious plans for Ballz.com. The more users we get the more features we can develop so please help spread the word about us.

How does Ballz.com protect my privacy?

We take your privacy very seriously. Your email address will not be displayed on the site nor will we give or sell any information about you to anyone. We will never send you stuff in the post.

We have three sets of privacy settings for each of your Sport tabs: You can set it up so that no-one has access other than you; only invited friends have access; or you can make the sport publicly browsable. To change a Sport tab's privacy settings go to the Profile page, choose Sports in the left hand navigation bar then options to the right of the sport you want to modify.

Please note that if you have been invited and accept to become a Ballz.com 'Journo' then your whole profile is public as it allows non-members to read your stories and broadcasts.
